On Thursday, April 16th, the seventh annual Terremoto auction will take place at Lago Algo, presenting a selection of works by more than 30 national and international artists. The funds raised at the auction will go toward financing the platform's activities.

This Thursday, April 16th, the seventh annual Terremoto auction will take place, presenting a selection of works by more than 30 national and international artists. The event will bring together collectors, artists, galleries, and art agents who are key to making the fundraising possible.
The exhibition, curated by Allegra Cordero di Montezemolo, brings together the work of artists who are part of the platform's network, with pieces by Carlos Amorales, Christian Wedel, Fritzia Irízar, Cynthia Gutiérrez, Gala Berger, Ximena Garrido-Lecca, among many more. Although the exhibition does not gather specific themes or define a strict curatorial line, the selection responds to the way Terremoto connects with its community: from a place of support and mutual interest. The auction is an event that allows funds to be raised with the support and contributions of established artists, while also providing visibility to emerging artists who are building their careers.

Terremoto is a nonprofit platform for contemporary art, whose goal is to promote criticism, research, and artistic practice in Latin America. The two main pillars of the platform are currently its digital magazine — which creates a space for critical dialogue around contemporary art — and Travesías Terremoto — its artistic residency program that sustains the research and practice of Latin American artists. The annual auction Terremoto holds is vital to sustaining the organization's work, which dedicates a large part of its efforts to making art accessible and open to the public, promoting fair editorial practices, fully funding residencies for artists in Latin America, generating critical texts, and producing high-quality activations completely free of charge.
The exhibition will be open to the public from Monday, April 13th at 12:00 pm until the day of the auction, Thursday, April 16th at 6:00 pm. The event will also include a party after the auction ends. The works for sale at the auction can be visited free of charge at Lago Algo, in the Bosque de Chapultepec, and attendance to the auction and after party is by invitation.
